What do you love and admire most about your wife Julia?

I just love her, I love how loving she is. She’s beautiful and makes me feel lucky.

How long have you been together & how did you meet?

5 years. We were set up on a blind date

Engagement Party?

We threw a house warming/birthday ‘surprise engagement’ party. We painted on the walls with ‘We’re Engaged!!!’ It was great seeing everyone’s reactions when they walked into our new home

What did you love most about wedding planning?

Loved that we had full creative control over everything, it was just like planning a big party and having it in a big hall gave us the freedom to do lots of fun things.

What do you remember most about your wedding day?

The food and the first dance. Julia choreographed a pretty epic dance to Taylor Swifts ‘Shake it off’ and each Monday night before the wedding we’d practice the routine in our lounge room.

Best advice to guys that are now planning their wedding?

1/ Have a dessert buffet.

2/ Get a live band.

3/ Make sure you feel good in your suit.

Any advice on choosing the right people to work at your wedding?

Hire young people that know how to party. Our Celebrant, photographer, bar staff etc were all young and energetic and appreciated the vibe we were going for.

Buck’s night:

Went to my Uncle’s beach house with mates for the weekend.

What did you and the boys do on the morning of your wedding?

Had a nice breakfast, photos taken, got ready.

Groomsmen Gifts:

I didn’t do groomsmen gifts.

Honeymoon:

Tassie for 11 nights, a few months after the wedding.

What did you take charge of:

I built the heart which was our ceremony backdrop and a great centerpiece for photos afterwards. I also chose all the music for the Band to play and worked with our great caterer and chose all the food. I made everything I could for the decorations like the signs for the dessert table, the cosy corner, the BEST DAY EVER sign, etc. Then I did all the set up, i.e hanging the fairy lights, signs. Etc. I organised for everyone to, if they wanted – to bring a dessert for the Dessert Buffet.
